Judy Pancoast Celebrates 30 Years in Children's Music

When Judy Pancoast began creating and performing music for family audiences, "Top Gun" was the year's top movie, "Cheers" and "Murder, She Wrote" were appointment television, and the radio airwaves were dominated by Madonna, Whitney Houston, and Bon Jovi. A lot has changed in the past 30 years, but Judy Pancoast is still making original, creative, fun music for kids and causing the same ruckus she always has with her live performances. She's made music for children in each of the contiguous 48 states during her career, and she shows no signs of slowing down. When she gave up her 2004 van in 2020, it had over 600,000 miles on the odometer.

"I'm still singing 'Swimming in Jello,' because my audience keeps growing up and new kids come along who have never heard it," she says. "Of course, I'm always writing new songs as well, but those old songs were popular for a reason. 'One Big Eyeball' still gets them laughing and dancing."

This summer, Judy is embarking on a packed concert season with shows in New Mexico and throughout New England, and she'll be singing those classic tunes along with new ones like "T-Rex at the Library" and "I'm a Slug." Each child at her concerts is invited to meet her after the show and get a free autographed photo, and it is not uncommon these days for parents to introduce themselves as kids who grew up with Judy's music and want their children to have the same experience. That fills her heart with joy.

As long as there are children who want to have musical fun, Pancoast says she will continue doing concerts for kids. To quote her song, 'A Glass of Water,' she says, "I'm not tired at all."

"It's such an incredible feeling to be responsible for a group of kids laughing and having a great time. I'm very grateful to have had this career for this many years and to still have the energy and physical fitness to keep it up."

Teen Musical "Girl On The Moon" Published and Licensed

Judy is now booking shows for older audiences in senior living, rest home communities, and for senior organizations. Audiences are enjoying her concerts of popular songs from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s with a few older standards mixed in, and they love her warm personality as well! A Beautiful Thing

Dear Friends,

I stand for all children, no matter what their ethnic heritage, socioeconomic background or sexual orientation. It pains me to think of the millions of children who are the victim of bullying just because they don't fit "the mold" of the average "normal" person. I believe that early education about differences will go a long way toward eradicating the ignorance and fear that lead to hatred, bullying and exclusion. It's time that gay pre-teens and teens are able to live a life free of pain and fear.

Toward that goal, I have written, recorded and released a new song entitled "A Beautiful Thing." The song tells the story of how I explained to my young daughter back in 1992 that sometimes girls fall in love with girls and boys fall in love with boys. The song was arranged and mixed by Grammy® winning producer Ricky Kej and Vanil Veigas in India, and the video was directed by Nicole Girard of Rowley, MA. I hope you will take a few minutes to watch it and, if you are of like mind, please share it.
